Robert Harold Gratz

He was born in Adams, MA on July 21, 1940 to Ernest Carl Gratz and Grace "Nellie" Vallencourt. "Bob" moved to Shaftsbury, VT with his parents in 1941. He attended grade school in Shaftsbury, VT. He graduated from high school in North Bennington, VT. He would then attend classes at Hudson Valley Community College.
Bob worked at Carl Farnham's Print Shop in Shaftsbury, VT, and retired from Union Carbide in Bennington, VT after 37.5 years. Upon retiring - he worked in the Post Office Department at Bennington College for five years. Bob volunteered for Harvest Prison Ministry for over 25 years. His hobby was collecting World-Wide Stamps. Bob was a member of the Green Mountain Stamp Society for many years.
He married Mary (LaFlamme) Gratz in Shaftsbury, VT on July 9th, 1971.
Bob leaves his children: Robert G. (Linda Rose) Gratz of Pownal, VT; Joseph R. (Gina) Gratz of Mt. Vernon, IN; Dawn (Timothy) Rieben of Jamaica, VT; and a step-son, David S. Percey of Cambridge, NY. His brother, Ronald (Lucia) Gratz of Texas and Shaftsbury, VT. Bob also leaves behind twelve grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased by his parents: Ernest and "Nellie" Gratz, and a son, LeRoy Gratz who died in 1989. His sister, Barbara Therriault, and a brother, Reverend Richard Gratz.
Memorial services will be held at Harvest Christian Ministries on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00 am. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Aaron Lebert from Harvest Christian Ministries.
A private burial for Robert will be held at Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
