Robert R Fritz, former resident of South Stream Rd, Pownal, passed away December 3, 2020, from complications of COVID-19 in Hemet, CA.
Bob was born to Benjamin and Helen Rumph Fritz on December 21, 1943 in Queens, NY. He graduated from Jamaica High School and attended Manhattan College, Riverdale, NY.
Bob enlisted into the Navy June of 1965 and was trained in Mine Warfare. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Tet Offensive and was attached to the Navy Seal Team 2 for missions in the Mekong Delta. He was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer on September 15, 1971.
On July 20th 1968, Bob married Jane Mallegol at the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers, NY. He worked for Meinhard Commercial and CIT Financial in Manhattan, NY for two years then they moved to Savoy, MA. While living there, Bob worked for H Greenberg & Sons and later Henry M Tuttle Company.
Bob was a member of the East Pownal Fire Dept and President of the Pownal Lions Club. He also served as President of the Oak Hill Daycare Board of Directors, President of the Bennington Lions Club, President of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 601 and also a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge 567. He very much enjoyed traveling, camping, reading, and the family "High Hopes Farm" in Adams, MA.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin & Helen Fritz and his sister Lynne Fritz Lattin. Bob leaves his wife of 52 years, Jane Mallegol Fritz, daughter Michelle Fritz Prendergast, son-in-law Brian Prendergast, and granddaughter Jadyn Prendergast. He also leaves son Ben Fritz and Erika Saviano Fritz, with grandchildren Wyatt, Meadow Fritz, Amelia Ryan and Ahrie Fritz. Bob leaves his brother-in-law Clifford Lattin, his niece Tracy Lattin Seymour, her husband Keith Seymour, and their daughter Abbie along with a nephew Jamey Lattin, his wife Jessica, and their son Nathaniel, who all reside in ME. Also mourning his loss are his cousins of the Keyes family and Gayle Miller of FL. Along with childhood friends Kenneth Harvey of PA, Ronald Weston of NJ, and Richard Dunn of IA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given via E.P. Mahar & Sons Funeral Home, The Vermont Chapter 601 of the Vietnam Veterans of America, or VNA and Hospice of the Southwest Region.
