Robert William Dow

Robert William Dow, 84 of Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on August 25, 2023. Robert was born in Manchester, VT on March 12, 1939, the son of Bernard and Cora (Belcher) Dow. Robert married the former Kathleen Kelley in 1969. Robert enlisted in the United States Navy following his graduation from high school and served on the USS Sunbird, a Chanticleer-class submarine rescue ship. Robert was a truck driver for Wm. E. Dailey, Inc. in Shaftsbury, VT for many years. He was an avid hunter and was an expert marksman. He also enjoyed fishing and camping with friends. Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Dow of Bennington, VT, his daughter, Joanne (Bruce) Sharby of Bennington, VT; his grandchildren, Theodore and Courtney Garrison and step-grandchildren, Shane and Brandon Sharby, 5 children in Maryland and his Bayada aide, Tiffany Thurston, who he considered “his Angel.” He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Dow Walker. At Robert's request, there will be no funeral services. The family would like to give huge thanks to the Bayada Home Health nurses and staff for the incredible care they gave to Robert.
