Robert Charles De Cicco

March 15, 1947 — December 28, 2022

Robert “Bobby” Charles DeCicco, age 75, of Bennington, VT sadly left us on December 28th 2022, following a battle with liver cancer. His memory is cherished by his family and friends, who will dearly miss him. He was born on March 15th, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Rita, (née Thayer) a loving and caring mother, and Nicholas “Nick” DeCicco; who was a Sargeant in the US Army during WWII. Nick’s family emigrated to the United States from Italy, and both Bobby and Nick were proud of their Italian heritage. Bobby loved animals, classic rock, collecting coins and baseball cards, and of course, his favorite baseball team- the Boston Red Sox. He was always cracking a joke, and liked to make the people around him laugh. Bobby was also a Navy veteran and a devout Christian- holding the ideals of charity, redemption, and salvation very close to his heart. Bobby is preceded in death by his long-time partner, Kathleen “Kelly” McVitty, who was also a military veteran- namely part of the Women’s Army Corps. They met in 1994 and had one child together, whom they adored and devoted much of their love and affection to; along with the many “fur-children” they cared for over the years. Bobby especially loved their sweet dog Coco- the two were seldom seen without the other. He is survived by his daughter Nicole DeCicco, his dear sisters Dolores Drew and Kathy DeCicco, and his niece Amy Drew; as well as Amy’s four children- Isabella, Keeton, Melanie, and Hunter. The family would like to thank the staff at Berkshire Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center for being so kind to Bobby over the years. Thanks are also due to the doctors and nurses at Berkshire Medical Center, who gave him the most compassionate care possible in his final hours. There will be a private ceremony to memorialize Bobby, which will take place at E.P. Mahar and Sons Funeral Home in Bennington, VT. We invite you to make a donation to Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Disabled American Veterans Charity in his honor, in lieu of flowers.
