Robert J. "Pete" Bouplon, age 84, a longtime resident of Shaftsbury Hollow, and more recently of South Street in Bennington died on Friday, July 13, 2018 following a brief illness.
He was born in Shaftsbury Hollow on July 7, 1934 and was the son of the late Floyd and Maude (Shepard) Bouplon. He received his education Shaftsbury. Robert was employed at Eveready Battery Company in Bennington in the Maintenance department for thirty years. He served in the Army for nine years including the Korean War.
He was a former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Club. He volunteered at BINGO for over thirty years at those various organizations. He played in the men's softball league, the mill league and also umpired for several years. Robert was a member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department for ten years.
Survivors include his three daughters and three sons-in-law; Michele (Paul) LaCroix of Franklin, MA, Dale Bouplon and Donald Gordon of North Bennington, and Kimberly (Gary) Funck of Hoosick Falls, NY. He leaves six grandchildren; Danielle Piper, Charlie LaCroix, Nicholas Gordon, Daniel Gordon, Sierra Funck, and Adam Funck.
He also leaves his former wife, Judith Way of Pownal, VT.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers; Jim Bouplon and Clifford Bouplon.
Funeral service will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington this morning, July 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the family lot in Rosewood Cemetery in White Creek, NY.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 10:00 until the time of the service.
