Robert Arthur Barnhardt

August 27, 1937 — September 2, 2018

Robert Barnhardt was a life-long resident of Bennington. His family and friends know him as Buster. Born on August 27, 1937, Buster passed away September 2, 2018.

Buster was the son of the late Clarence and Eva Enright. He attended St. Francis and Bennington High School; and after graduation, he worked for Union Carbide, cooked at local restaurants and was self-employed in construction.

Buster loved outside recreation. It did not matter what season it was, Buster loved to fish! He took pride in tying his own flies, building his wooden boat and telling stories of the fish that got away. He also enjoyed deer hunting; and when snow was not on the ground, you would often find him on the golf course, hoping for that hole in one.

Buster and Shirley Barnhardt had four children: Kimberly Waite & (Don) of Benton, Maine; Deborah Santostefano & (Louis) of Middletown, Connecticut; Darcy Lindamood & (Scott) of Honolulu, Hawaii; and Christopher Barnhardt & (Alex) of Brandon, Vermont.

Buster's grandchildren knew him as Poppy. They are: Ericka and Joshua Waite, Sarah Jasman, Christopher, Jeffrey, Hunter and Ryan Barnhardt, Alyssa Hodge, and Lilly Lindamood.

Buster had seven great grandchildren as well: Abbie and Stella Donahue-Beard; Claire, Dylan, Blake and Wyatt Jasman; and Brody Barnhardt.

Buster lived on Hicks Avenue with his long-time companion Jane Bleau. They enjoyed going out for breakfast and visiting with their neighbors. He also looked forward to his annual fishing trip with his cousin Jackie DeLude and his many adventures with his childhood friend Nikki Harrington.

Buster had one sister Joan LaRoche and five nieces and nephews: Lureen George, Joe, Paula, Jeffrey and Jamie LaRoche. The family would like to thank them for their love and support.

The family would also like to thank Southwestern Medical Center and Bennington Rehab for Buster's care.

Per Buster's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
