The Lord Jesus has called Rick home. Rick, 74, lived in Shaftsbury, VT for 52 yrs. He died peacefully in his home on January 8. He was born August 1, 1949 in Bridgeport, CT to Richard G. Klein and Julia (Swan) Klein. His father was a contractor and a building inspector. Rick was educated in Monroe, CT. He graduated from Masuk High School in 1967. He graduated in 1969 with an Associates Degree in Building Construction from Dean Jr. College in Franklin, MA. He attended University of Houston working towards a B.S. in Architecture. Rick met his wife Kandy O'Brien in 1968 at Dean and married on January 1, 1972. They had an outdoor wedding on the farm. Kandy later was called Kate O'Klein. They just celebrated their 52 anniversary. Rick met the Lord in 1978 and attended Green Mountain Christian Center for 45 years. His business 'Blazing Hammers' took him to Nantucket, Florida, New York and Connecticut as well as local. He was a very active member of the Sons of the American Legion as well as a member of the Elks and Moose. Rick loved to ski, golf, fish and hunt. He recently hunted with his sons and grandsons in PA. He leaves his wife, Kate, and three children; Brooks of VA, Forrest (Jennifer Murphy) of Arlington, VT and Cedar Statmann (Christian) of VA and 3 grandchildren Cooper and Bruin Klein and Karly Stratmann all of VA. He also leaves a brother David and his family. He is predeceased by his parents and a sister. He leaves 4 brother-in-laws Rick, Ken, Tim and Michael O'Brien and their families. In lieu of flowers, Rick would like donations to be made to Hale Mountain Fish and Game Club in Shaftsbury, VT. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 27 at 10:00 at Green Mountain Christian Center on Main St., in Bennington. A reception to follow at the church. All are welcome
