MANCHESTER
Richard Brocksbank, Manchester, VT, died after a short illness on April 8th, 2017. He was 82.
Born in Waynesboro, PA, he attended Mercersburg Academy and Bucknell University. After graduating from Ursinus College he returned to Mercersburg Academy where he taught English and coached golf. He also taught at the Philadelphia Main Line Schools, Great Valley and Conestoga. His marriage to Sarah J. Gibbon ended in divorce.
Richard was a retiree of John Wanamaker and Brooks Brothers and was later employed by Josiah Allen Real Estate, The Orvis Company, Carriage Trade Antiques, Millstone Antiques and William Smith Antiques of Plainfield, NH,
In Pennsylvania Richard lived with his family at "Bishops Lodge" (circa 1797), near Westchester where he grew to love and collect early American antiques, an interest which he continued throughout his life. One of his early mentors was the late Philip H. Bradley of Downingtown, PA.
There will be no service or burial. His body has been willed to Dartmouth College Medical School in Hanover, NH. Gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to the Anatomical Gift Program, Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, NH 03755-3832.
