Reginald “Rick” Louis Baker Jr., 71, passed away at his residence on January 25, 2025.
Rick was born on November 10, 1953 to the late Reginald Baker Sr. and Victoria Baker (Chenaille) in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was one of nine children. Eventually, the family would move to Pownal, Vermont and Rick would finish his education at Mount Anthony Union High School.
Rick would later meet and marry the love of his life, Lisa Baker (Rice). They were married on July 29, 1994. Together they would raise a family, and shared in many experiences and moments of happiness.
He was an expert at hunting and fishing and could often be found in the woods or on the water. He truly was a jack-of-all-trades. Rick was considered as a handyman and a “fix-it” man. Ever need your roof repaired, car fixed, or electric redone? You got it! Rick also loved woodworking, and even built his daughter Sadie a five-foot lighthouse (of course it lit up too). When he wasn’t doing laborious jobs, you could find him tinkering in his workshop, gardening, golfing, telling stories, metal detecting, doing photography, or playing with his drones. Rick also loved listening to 50’s music, especially Elvis. Most importantly, he loved his family. He loved his pets, even the cats – though he’d never admit to it. He could always be counted on, and put his family first. A true and honest man – he will be sorely missed.
Rick is survived by his wife, Lisa Baker. His children: Amanda Gladu, Jared Baker, Brenton Dupee, and Sadie Beth Maggio. Grandchildren: Hailley Boutin, Brianna Gladu, Dylan Baker, Jordan Baker, Jacob Gladu, and Makenzie Gladu. Five sisters: Marie Pudvar, Elaine Capriola, Lynn Therrien, Patricia Crandall, Pamela Upright. And his baby brother: Louis Baker. As well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rick is predeceased by his parents, and siblings: Jim Baker and Lori Mayer.
A Celebration of Life for Rick will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
