WOODFORD
Raymond R. Hurley, 86, a resident of Old Harbour Road, Woodford, died Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Bennington December 26, 1934 he was the son of the late Fred J. and Eva N. (Sequin) Hurley.
Ray received his education in the Bennington schools.
He married the former Avis Bruce in Bennington on October 28, 1961.
Ray was employed for many years by State of Vermont Highway Department until the time of his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Avis C. Bruce-Hurley of Woodford; three children, Doreen Weeden, Andrew Hurley and Sara Conklin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Hurley of Bennington and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside "Celebration of Remembrance" will take place at the Woodford Town Cemetery (off Route 9 across from Prospect Mountain) at 11 a.m. on Saturday October 30, 2021. Chairs and tenting will be available. Afterwards, refreshments will be served at the Town Office Community Room. Pot luck dishes are welcome.
