Rae Bronson, 84, of Bennington, Vermont passed away on March 3, 2025, at the Vermont Veterans’ Home. She was the wife of Gary Bronson (USAF), and daughter of Reverend Isabell G. King and Arthur W. King.
Rae was born on April 11, 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Gary Bronson of Bennington on May 18, 1995, in Bennington, Vermont after an 18-year courtship. They were married for 29 years.
For over 25 years Rae worked in the medical field at Southwestern Vermont Medical center and local doctors’ offices. She was a practicing Christian, assisting with services at the Vermont Veterans’ Home weekly and attended services at Green Mountain Christian Church, as well as various other churches throughout her life. Outside of work, Rae enjoyed spending time reading, hunting for antiques, and spending time with family, friends, and her pets.
Rae is survived by her husband of 29 years, Gary Bronson of Bennington. Her children/stepchildren: Walter A. Clark, Jr. (Lara) of Pownal, VT, Terri McCluskey (Jim) of Orangeburg, NY, Greer Gallant (Mark) of New York, Gary Scott Bronson of Bennington, VT, and Jennifer Bronson Fowler (James “Mic”) of North Carolina. Her grandchildren: Lanae Clark Sprague (Zack) of New York, Walter A. Clark III (Chasity) of Vermont, Aileen McCluskey (Tyler) of Buffalo, NY, James McCluskey (Elizabeth) of Fairplay, CO., Deirdre McCluskey Jobson (Sam) of Pittsburg, PA, Dylan Boulet and Brody Gallant both of Bennington, VT, Luck, Mason, and Reese Fowler of North Carolina. Her great-grandchildren: Kera Clark of NY, and Alexis Sprague of NY.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Isabell G. King, Arthur King, and her brother David E. King.
A time for visitation will be held on May 10, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 PM at Mahar Funeral Home located in Bennington, Vermont. Following the visitation, graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery located in Pownal, Vermont.
