Phyllis M. Crawford (Lockrow)

Phyllis M. Crawford, 89 , a resident of Burgess Road in Bennington died peacefully Saturday April 14, 2018 at her residence

She was born in Hoosick Falls, New York April 12, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Lenita (Whipple) Lockrow. Phyllis received her education at the Southwest Hoosick School and graduated from Hoosick Falls High School in 1946.

Phyllis married Frank Crawford at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington on August 3, 1947. Mr. Crawford died September 22, 2011.

She was a stay at home mom, raising ten children for many years. In 1971 she began working for the food service in the Bennington School system. She managed the kitchen at Monument School for 17 years. She retired in 1993 but continued to work part time at Monument School.

Phyllis was a communicant of St. Peters Episcopal Church. She enjoyed raising her children, spending time with her family, reading, embroidering, cooking, and in earlier years bowling. Her favorite things were celebrating holidays with family and spending many years with the family at camp on Lake Champlain which they built in 1962.

Survivors include her ten children and their spouses, Stephen and Christine Crawford, Priscilla and William Rice, Theodore and Linda Crawford, Jeffrey and Andrea Crawford, Melinda and Jeffrey Santarcangelo, Laurie and Michael Crawford Myers all of Bennington, Eric and Jayne Crawford of North Bennington, Melody and Daniel Zwynenburg of Pownal, Elizabeth and Paul Lemperle of Hoosick Falls, NY and Joseph and Christina Crawford of Arlington along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor Pilling and Doris Timmerman and a brother Harold Lockrow. She was pre-deceased by a grandson Hans Zwynenburg, a daughter in law Rocky Crawford, a son in law Curtis Carey, four brothers Ralph, Carl, Gordon and Spencer Lockrow and a sister Janet Hoag.

At Phyllis's request the services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

The burial will take place in the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
