Phillip A. Dessert Sr.

April 23, 1936 — September 10, 2017

Phillip A. Dessert Sr., 81, a resident of Appleseed Lane in Bennington died unexpectedly Sunday September 10, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Wallingford, VT April 23, 1936. He was the son of the late Oliver and Doris (Anderson) Dessert. He received his education in Wallingford. Phil served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War.

He married the former Zoe Canfield on November 20, 1965. Mrs. Dessert died January 17, 2007.

In earlier years Phil was employed at the Vermont Steak House. He had also worked in several mills throughout the area.

His family was his main interest. He also enjoyed attending high school sporting events.

Survivors include his children, Ann Powers, Dawn North, John G. Dessert and Phillip A. Dessert Jr and his wife Regina all of Bennington. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and one great grandson.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, August 22, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be offered.
