Peter Jerry Lanfair Sr.

January 19, 1948 — July 23, 2019

Peter J. Lanfair Sr, 71, a resident of Wall St. in Hoosick Falls, NY died Tuesday July 23, 2019 at the Southwestern VT Medical Center in Bennington following a long illness.

He was born in Bennington, VT January 19, 1948. He was the son of the late Clyde and Jennie (LaDuke) Lanfair. He received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. He later attended Saint Josephs Business School where he received an associate's degree in accounting.

From 1968 to 1972 Pete served in the United States Navy.

He married the former Susan Kelly on April 19, 1986. Susan died July 18, 2014.

Pete was a long-distance trucker. For over 20 years Pete fostered children and was instrumental in making a difference in those children's lives.

He enjoyed hunting and loved to spend time at Camp Need A Buck. Pete enjoyed camping and taking trips to Maine with friends and family.

Survivors include his step children and their spouses, Ralph Quackenbush and his wife Lisa of Pownal, VT. Kristy Walker and her husband Brock of Waupun, Wisconsin and James Quackenbush and his wife Kristie of Bennington. Six grandchildren, Rachel and Erika Quackenbush, Jordan and Brandon Morrissey and Makenzie and Landen Quackenbush. A sister, Barbara Shunk of Troy, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother Thomas Lanfair.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
