Mr. Paul Edward Becker, 94, a resident of Hawks Ave in North Bennington, VT died Thursday October 7, 2021 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
He was born in Bennington, VT March 20, 1927. He was the son of the late Walter and Mabel (Haswell) Becker. He received his education in North Bennington and was a graduate of the former North Bennington High School. Mr. Becker was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II.
Mr. Becker married the former Betty Jane Welch at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on September 29, 1956.
Prior to retirement Mr. Becker was employed at Bijur Lubricating Corporation as a machinist foreman.
Mr. Becker was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks # 567 and the American Legion Post 13 in Bennington.
An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed gardening, hunting, camping and traveling to all fifty states. His grandchildren were his main interest.
Survivors include his wife Betty Jane Becker of North Bennington. Five children, Paul Becker of Manchester, N.H., Brian Becker of North Bennington, Linda Siegmund of Cumberland, Maine, Peter Becker of Granville, NY and Samuel Becker of White Creek, NY. Eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Becker was pre-deceased by a daughter, Kimberly Becker, a son, Barry Becker, a brother, Loren Becker and a sister Erma Kennedy.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday October 13, at 10:15 a.m. with a prayer and then from Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered,
The burial with military honors will follow at the family lot at St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington.
