Patrick H. Martin (Martin)

January 28, 1951 — June 18, 2018

Patrick H. Martin, long time resident of Woodford, Vermont was visiting with family in Bennington, when he suffered an unexpected stroke early Sunday afternoon, June 17, 2018. He was taken to the hospital where late on Monday, June 18th, Patrick passed.

Pat was born in Troy, N.Y. On January 28, 1951, the son of Marion Frazer and Henry J. Martin. His parents, Marion and Henry, preceded him in death in 1989 and 1993 respectively. Pat was of great solace as a caregiver during the illnesses that preceded their deaths.

Pat is survived by his four older siblings Audrey Marra, Paula Gotsch, Marcia Freeman and Thomas F. Sheehan, and by two younger siblings Katrina Giard and Charles F. Martin.

Surviving relatives whom Patrick saw most often are: Naomi Martin and her daughter, Adrianna Dewey; Morgan Martin and her daughters: Adelene, Isabella and Madelyn Harrington, Petraca and Bruce Mariani; John Gotsch III and Shelly Loomis; Ben Marra and Andy and Robbe Marra: and his brother, Charles, with whom he was visiting on July 17th.

Intriguing "Uncle Pat" to twenty-two nephews and nieces and a man friendly to many along his path, Patrick was dedicated to helping others, yet a very private individual.

Never one for personal gain nor self-aggrandizement, he lived simply and modestly. He gave generously of his time and energy and listened deeply to those around him.

Many people will miss their conversations with Pat over a wide variety of topics. Much of his large, family has been honored to know and to love Patrick, brother, uncle, grand-uncle and a friend to remember!

The family and friends will gather privately in Woodford distribute Pat's ashes.

Friends and community members are invited to join with the family in a celebration of Patrick's life at the Band- Stand in front of the VA Home ("The Old Soldiers" Home) in Bennington at 12:30 PM, July 14th, 2018.
