Patrick Michael Martin

Patrick Michael Martin of St Petersburg, NY, born 11/9/1939, left this earthy life on 8/15/2023. He is survived by his nieces, Leslie Martin-Bazzini & Patricia Ann Martin, his good friends/chosen family, Stephen Duval and Cheryl Phoenix. He is predeceased by his father, Frederick Charles Martin, his mother, Kathryn Gibbons Martin, his brother, Frederick James Martin and his beloved dog, Kayla. Patrick grew up in Bergen County, NJ and was a graduate of Indiana University. He lived, worked and traveled in many interesting and diverse places across the world, his favorite being the Greek island of Crete. He settled in Rensselaer County in 1986, where he lived happily for 36 years, enjoying the beauty and solitude of his natural surroundings. Patrick enjoyed a long career as an educator, and spent the last 19 years of his professional life at The Hoosac School in Hoosick, NY as an English/ESL teacher and later as Dean of Students, prior to retiring in 2006 . He spoke fondly of his time there and how he was blessed to have such rewarding career. Patrick was a man of many interests including music, art, poetry, literature, and nature. He had his mother’s sparkling blue eyes, and a wonderfully mischievous grin. His dry quick wit, interesting life stories and impish charm endeared him to many. He was loved and will be greatly missed
