Patricia Lyons

Patricia Davey Lyons, 92, widow of Gordon H. Lyons, a resident of Northside Drive, passed away on August 28, 2023 at the McClure Respite House in Colchester, VT. Born in Schenectady, NY October 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Ann (Hogan) Davey. She received her education in the Bennington schools and was a 1949 graduate of Bennington High School and a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph’s Business College. Pat and Gordy were married on April 26, 1953, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Gordy died on August 8, 2002. Pat and Gordy inherited the family business, Davey Oil Company, in 1959 when her father died. They operated the business until Gordy’s death when Gary Lyons joined his mother at the company. Pat was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13, and the Women of the Moose. Pat also served as a Gray Lady at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for many years. She served many years on the reunion committee for the Class of 1949 and enjoyed traveling, socializing, and time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Pat was cared for by her daughter, Sharon, and her family for the final three years of her life. Special thanks to her kind caregivers: Christine Larsen, Sherri Trafton, Carrie Steele, RN, and the entire Home Health & Hospice team, including the McClure Miller Respite House. Survivors include her children and their families: Michael D. Lyons of Monkton, VT, and his daughter, Samantha Lyons, of Burlington, VT; Sharon L. (Gordon) Sadler of Burlington, VT, and their children Alden and Reid, Lianna and Jeremy Lyons, the children of her predeceased son, Guy F. Lyons, who died in 2007. Pat is also survived by a great-grandson, Kowan Lyons, and great-granddaughters, Aerith Lyons and Millie Mack, as well as several cousins. In addition to her son Guy, she was also predeceased by her son, Gary S. Lyons, in 2016. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12:00 PM from Sacred Heart/St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, VT, burial will follow in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington on Saturday, September 9 from 10:00am- 11:30 AM. A brief prayer service will follow the visitation, then a procession to the church.
