Pamela J. Monroe, 74, a resident of Murphy Road in North Bennington, VT passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday August 8, 2023. She was born in Bennington, VT July 14, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Olin Joseph and Phyllis (Stitt) Smith. She received her education in Bennington. She married the love of her life, Gary H. Monroe on October 5, 1969. In earlier years Pamela had been employed at Energizer for over 40 years as a raw material inspector. She retired from energizer in 2017. Pamela enjoyed hunting and watching and traveling to NASCAR events with her husband Gary, traveling to horse shows with her daughters, metal detecting, and coin collecting. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren either fishing or attending sporting events. She loved celebrating holidays and cookouts with her family. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy Rennell and Jamie Jelley of North Pownal, VT, Holly Glaski and Christopher of North Bennington and Julie Monroe and Mike Shultz of Bennington. Six grandchildren, Taylor and Calli Rennell, Kylan and Jillian Glaski, and Magnus and Gunnar Shultz. A sister, Marilyn Garder, brothers Gerald Smith, William Smith, sister-in-law, Patrica Shepard of Bennington and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Monroe of North Bennington. Along with several nieces nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her husband Gary H. Monroe, and her brothers Joseph and Scott Smith. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday, August 14, from noon until 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will be offered at the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor William Elwell officiating.
