Mrs. Olga M. Dunn, 89, widow of Philip A. Dunn Sr., a former resident of Colonial Gardens in Bennington and more recently of Brookdale at Fillmore Pond died Monday April 22, 2019 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.
She was born in Bennington, Vermont December 2, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Kelson) Murphy. Olga received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of the former Bennington High School class of 1949. She received her Registered Nursing degree in 1952 from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield, MA.
She was married to Louis F. Sausville who died in 1980. She later married Philip A. Dunn Sr. Mr. Dunn died in 1993.
Mrs. Dunn retired in 1988 after thirty-seven years of nursing at both Putnam Memorial Hospital and later the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Survivors include three sisters, Joan Douglass of Bennington, Lena Senecal of Young Harris, Georgia and Barbara Molloy and her husband Larry of Bennington; a sister-in-law, Arlene Murphy of Shaftsbury along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Olga is also survived by five step-sons and their spouses, Michael and Adrian Dunn of Williamstown, MA, Christopher and Linda Dunn of Albany, NY, Thomas Dunn and Martri Blednick of Loudonville, NY, Gregory Dunn of Queens, NY, Dominic Dunn and Mary McFerran of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, and step daughter-in-law, Sheila Dunn of Bennington; eight step-grandchildren, Siobhan Dunn, Philip A. Dunn III, Olivia Dunn, Brigid Dunn, Willa Dunn, Ariel Dunn, Zosia Dunn, and Gabriel Dunn. Olga was a proud great grandmother of Wilder and August Dunn Ross and Hanna and Philip Dunn IV. Olga was pre-deceased by five sisters and four brothers, Agnes Knowles, Catherine Murphy, Mary Frances Murphy, Margaret McGuire and Ann Flood and Leo, Thomas, Joseph and Patrick Murphy and by a step-son, Philip A. Dunn II and step great grandson Cassius Dunn Ross.
Funeral services will be held at the Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Saturday May 25, 2019 at 11:00 am where the Liturgy of Christian Death will be offered.
At Olga's request there will be no calling hours.
Private committal services will take place in the family lot at the Old Catholic Cemetery in Bennington, VT.
