Norman Charles Rivers, a long time resident of Bennington, passed away on July 31st surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Worcester, MA on August 16, 1936, he was the son of the late Lester and Marion (Hicks) Rivers. He was a 1955 graduate of Berlin High School. He served in the First Calvary Division of the United States Army during the Korean War.
Norm was employed by Fairdale Farms for 41 years. He also worked at Cinema 1, 2 & 3 with dear friends. He served on the Board of Directors of the Bennington Little League for 25 years in addition to being a coach. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and playing golf and pool. He was a proud member of the Florida Moose Club.
Norm was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and the late Patricia (Cook) Rivers (D-1999) were married for 41 years and had seven children: Joseph and Jayne Rivers, Susan and Mark Page, James and Ling Rivers, Elizabeth and Robert Antognioni, Jennifer and Joseph Mason, Ted and Jill Rivers, and Laura and Mike Cestone. He married Janet Mary Reilly in 2003 (D-2013) and was embraced by her children: Holly, Glen, Peggy and Bud. He married Dolores (Chalifoux) Rivers in 2015 and was welcomed by her children: Alice, Harry, Lia, Nadine, Kelly and Scott.
In addition to Norman's loving extended family, he is survived by his sister Nancy Pinel and his pride and joy - 21 amazing grandchildren.
Norman was predeceased by his brother, Donald Rivers, his sister, Marilyn Wazaka and his grand-daughters, Colleen and Victoria Page.
A celebration of Norman's life will take place at St. Francis de Sales Church on Thursday, August 5th at 4:00. The burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery in the family lot.
