Norma R. Herrington Snyder, age 86, a resident of Life Care Center of Jacksonville, Florida died on Saturday, July 1, 2017 following a long illness.
She was born in Cambridge, NY on December 20, 1930, daughter of the late Glenwood and Ruth (Wyman) Richards. She was raised in Salem, NY graduated from Salem High School. She first married Clifford S. Herrington who predeceased her. She later married James Snyder who has also passed on.
For many years she owned the Villager Restaurant in North Bennington, and later moved to Littleton, NH, and worked as the Food and Nutrition Administrator at the Littleton Regional Hospital for 35 years until the time of her retirement.
Overcoming great adversity from a young age, her life was devoted to making those around her happy. Her loving family and successes in life were a direct result of the time and dedication she put into both. She found great joy in the simple things in life, like a beautiful garden or an antique table.
In addition to her faithful dog "Pippi", Mrs. Snyder is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Jon) Durand of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, Larry (Christine) Herrington, of North Hero, VT and Richard (Lisa) Herrington of Littleton, NH. She leaves six grandchildren: Kelley Legacy, Stephanie Roy, Jillian Record, Todd Herrington, Chad Herrington, and Jennifer Herrington Nguyen, as well as several great grandchildren: Scott Legacy, Amber Legacy, Chloe Record, Seth Record, Micah Roy, Coletta Roy, Dylan Herrington, Sidney Herrington, Eli Herrington, Summer Herrington, Ivy Herrington, Kaitlyn Nguyen, and Kiara Nguyen. Norma is survived by a sister, Evelyn Braymear of Salem NY.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, NY with Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church officiating.
