Norma Leavey

Norma Leavey, 88, a resident of Pownal, Vermont passed away peacefully at her residence on June 10th, 2022, with her husband by her side.
Norma was born in New York City on 1/20/1934, she graduated from Hunter College High School and Barnard College speaking fluent French, with a Masters and a Professional Degree, having a shared degree in Art History & Economics. Then she worked for Staten Island Community College as a Financial Advisor & Student Counselor.
In 1961 she married John C. Leavey & they lived in a loft near Wall Street for 7 years. In 1969 he received a Fellowship for 2 years to the American Academy in Rome in Painting. They stayed in Rome & Chianti for another 5 years. Returning to New York City she worked as a Financial Consultant for Equitable Life Insurance Co. until being injured in a street accident in 1986. They moved to Sandgate, Vt in 1994 and then moved to Pownal in 2003.
Norma is survived by her husband of 61 years, John C. Leavey. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Margaret, Thomas, James, William, Harry, Joan, Marion, Christopher, Susanna and Chris.
Norma was predeceased by her parents and siblings.
At Norma's request, there will be no services.
