Nancy Mook Kokoras, 85, longtime resident of Bennington, passed away on March 21, 2025.
Nancy was born on August 16, 1939 to the late Harold and Virginia Searles in Metuchen, NJ. She graduated from Bennington High School in 1957. Following graduation, she attended Keene State and earned her Registered Nursing license. From then on, Nancy would acquire over 10 nursing licenses to practice in different states throughout the country. Her commitment to her career as a nurse, showcased her compassionate and endearing nature as a person. Her last position was at the Pownal Elementary School working as a school nurse.
On August 17, 1974 she married the love of her life, Nicholas Kokoras. Together they raised two children – Christina and Charles Kokoras. Nancy’s family and her children were her world. For thirty-five years, she operated a daycare from her home. Caregiving for the children that came through her daycare brought much joy to her.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Nicholas Kokoras. Her children, Christina Kokoras (fiancé Richard Bolton), and Charles Kokoras. A sister, Katherine Davis. A brother, Harold Searles. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nancy is predeceased by her parents, Harold Searles and Virginia Morris.
A time for visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 PM on April 2, 2025 at the Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington, VT with a memorial service to follow. Graveside services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Nancy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Hospice Care In the Berkshires through the office of Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington, VT.
