Nancy Marie Frasier, a former long-time resident of Elm Street and Park Street, died June 9, 2016, on her 77th Birthday at Fillmore Pond.
Born in Bennington June 9, 1939, Nancy was the daughter of the late Alfred H. and Marguerite (Higgins) Taylor. She received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High School, class of 1959.
Nancy married Edward J. Frasier on August 20, 1960, at St. Francie de Sales Church in Bennington. Ed died September 30, 2006.
An accomplished self-taught artist, Nancy excelled in oil painting with a specialty of barns and winter landscapes, many of which grace area homes and offices. She was a participant in local and regional art shows. In later years, Nancy was well known for her House Portraits which were replicas of local homes and landmark buildings in Bennington and throughout the country. As her eyesight diminished, she was, sadly, forced to discontinue her passion for this activity.
A Type I diabetic since age eight, Nancy managed her medical problem well and in 1998 she was a recipient of the Joslin Diabetes Center Medal given to those who had survived more than a half-century as a diabetic.
Nancy especially enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends around her table. She also loved teaching her granddaughters how to cook and spent many hours with them in her kitchen in years past. She enjoyed her many luncheon and dinner outings with friends and former classmates, and her occasional trips to Virginia to visit her sister, Peggy.
Survivors include a daughter, Gretchen Frasier Dzedzej of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Philip J. Frasier (Robin Daigneault) of Pownal. She also leaves five grandchildren: Kyrsten Frasier Humphreys, Kasey and Kathryn Frasier, Michael Dzedzej and Sarah Dzedzej Pellicio and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother Charles D. (Pete) Taylor (Jane Ryan), Sisters Barbara Taylor Downing (Charles), Beverly Taylor Feeney (James), all of Bennington and Peggy Taylor Jones (Robert) from Virginia. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive along with a very special and devoted friends, Lise Knapp and Andrea White.
At Nancy's request, there will be no calling hours.
The funeral will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00 a,m. from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church where the Liturgy of Christian Death will be offered.
Burial will be in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery.
