Milton Roger Hattat

Milton (Milty) Roger Hattat, 91, of Pownal, VT passed away peacefully Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He was born in Pownal, VT on May 26th, 1931, the son of William and Florence (Crosier) Hattat. Milty married the former Helen Marie Lanoue on February 9th, 1957 in Bennington, VT. Helen passed away April 11th, 1999. Milty is survived by his children and their spouses; Jeffrey (Cheryl Bliven) Hattat of New Lebanon, NY; Lynn (Kevin) Dean of Pownal, VT; Gregory (Colleen Behan) Hattat of Pownal, VT.; his grandchildren, Chrystal Varela, Keegan Hattat, Shelley Hurst, Javery Hattat, Amanda Casey, and Justin Dean; and 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Christopher; Chris’ Wife, Linda (Hewitt) Hattat; his brother, Wellington Hattat; and his sister, Phyllis Dickenson. Milty was a decorated Korean combat war veteran, serving from May 13th, 1952 to May 8th, 1954. He was an engineer with Sprague Electric where he retired from after 42 years. Milty was a very outgoing person who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler, and golfer. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, mainly cribbage and pitch. Milty was an active member contributing time and resources to the V.F.W. of Bennington, F.O.E. Chapter 1861, Bennington Elk Lodge #567, and the American Legion, Post 90. Services for Milton will be held on Friday, February 10th, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington, VT.. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday, February 10th from 11 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal. Should friends desire, contributions in Milty’s memory may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad, the Pownal Fire Department or the Pownal Valley Fire Department through the office of the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
