Mildred E. "Millie" Harrington, 88, a former long-time resident of Cross Street, died on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Born in Bennington on March 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Gladys (Tripp) Knapp. She received her education in the Bennington schools.
Millie married Lynn E. Harrington Jr. on January 10, 1953 at St. Peters Church in Bennington. Lynn died December 9, 1987.
In earlier years Millie was employed at Thomson Manufacturing Company followed by the Vermont Veterans Home for many years until the time of her retirement.
Millie very much enjoyed the time she spent at Bennington Project Independence. She also was an avid bingo player. Millie had been a strong supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital for many years.
Millie spent the last two years of her life at the Vermont Veterans Home. Her family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at the VVH for the loving care which they provided to Millie.
Survivors include three children, Kevin R. Harrington, Dennis E. Harrington and his fiancé Patty Hilton and Tina Cole and her husband Tim, all of Bennington; two grandchildren, Ashley Masse and husband Christopher and Shelby Cole and her fiancé William Lapointe and six great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.
In addition to her husband Millie was predeceased two sisters and three brothers, Elaine Davis, Nancy Livingston, Charles "Bud" Knapp, Herbert Knapp and Arthur Knapp.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
