Michael Christopher Von Ouhl

Michael Christopher von Ouhl (June 19, 1941 – April 21, 2023) Michael Christopher von Ouhl, 81, a resident of Bennington Vermont died peacefully Friday, April 21st at his home. Michael was born in Bennington on June 19th, 1941. He was the son of Howard and Ruth Ouhl. He was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High Class of 1959. He later graduated with a degree from Rider University. Michael served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and in the allied occupied areas of West Germany in the 1960s. He was honorably discharged in 1965. After working in various parts of the country, Michael settled back home in Bennington where he worked as a rural mail carrier for the Town of Shaftsbury for 27 years. He also served on the Bennington Zoning and Recreation Center Boards and helped start CAT-TV, where he worked for years broadcasting local town meetings, and producing a variety of local origination programming. Michael was a pillar of his family who he loved dearly. He was a voracious reader of all types of books and treasured learning and sharing knowledge. Michael loved nature, specifically the trees and mountains of the Green Mountain National Forest on the border of his backyard. He was a devoted Christian. Michael was an early adopter of computers, enjoyed national and local politics, and converted his family to Dallas Cowboys fandom. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marilyn von Ouhl, their children and spouses, Tamara von Ouhl Kremer and Leigh Kremer of Bennington, Julie and Seth Normyle of Bennington, Sarah and Thomas Zink of Scotia, NY, Corban and Candice von Ouhl of Springfield, VA, grandchildren Avery and Callie Normyle, Jacob Normyle and his fiance’ Lydia, Noah Normyle, Rowan, Perrin and Talon Zink, Kaiden von Ouhl, great grandchildren Jorah and Harlan Normyle, sister Barbara "Bobbi" Kircher of Pennsylvania, several nieces and nephews and a special friend Stacey. He was predeceased by his sister Linda Lebert. The services and burial will be held privately. Guest book condolences may be made at www.maharandsonfuneralhome.net.
