Matthew H. Tartaglia (Tartaglia)

May 17, 1966 — January 24, 2021

Matthew Hugh Tartaglia, Bennington VT passed away on January 24, 2021 at the age of 54. He was grateful to be home and with his loving wife, Alison (Much) of 24 years and their pups, Buster and Lulu.

Matthew was born to Carol Jane Kerr and Gerald Tartaglia on May 15, 1966 in Florida. Matthew, known by many as 'Sarge', was a larger than life character in the EMS community over the last 20 years. He was a Sgt. In the United States Search and Rescue Task Force and was proudest in his ability to have responded to the Sept. 11th attacks in Manhattan, providing critical incident stress debriefing for his fellow EMS workers.

He volunteered most recently with the Bennington Rural Fire Dept. and the American Red Cross when his health allowed him.

Matthew is survived by his wife and sons, Matthew Adam Tartaglia (North Wales, PA) and Aiden (and his wife Serah) Bagatta (Watertown, NY).

Matthew was most excited about expecting his first grandchild in June of 2021.

Matthew was a kind soul that always wanted to make sure that if there was a way to 'help' he did. His family asks that you do something nice to help a neighbor in his honor.

Services will be held at the convenience of his family at a later date, due to COVID.
