Maryann C. Rinsma (Rinsma)

August 7, 1948 — March 12, 2020

Maryann C. Rinsma, 71, a longtime resident of Bennington died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born on August 7, 1948 in Pittsfield, MA to the late Cornelius and Margaret J (Dann) Rinsma.

After graduating from UMass Amherst, Maryann went on to become a respiratory therapist and worked at the then named Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington for many years. She then worked for the United Counseling Service, also in Bennington, until her retirement.

A talented artist, she enjoyed making jewelry, pottery and handcrafted tote bags. Maryann was interested enough in Egyptology to learn to read hieroglyphs and had a lifelong love of astronomy and horses. Her favorite TV shows were Dr Who, the Star Trek series and programming on PBS channels.

She is survived by her brother Dann (Nancy) of MA, several cousins and her friends.
