Mary V. Slivovsky, 100, died Sunday April 3, 2016 in Bennington, VT.
She was born in Torrington, CT December 5, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Anthony Kunkiewicz and Wincella (Janczarski) Kunkiewicz. Mary received her education in Torrington.
She married John Slivovsky November 28, 1940 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Torrington. He preceded her death in 1983.
Mary was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Sullivan Senior Center in Torrington where she sang with the "Silver Bells & Beauxs.". Mary enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, cooking, and making afgans. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially by playing scrabble.
Survivors include her son John Slivovsky and his wife Janet of Randolph, New Jersey, a daughter Faith Bollhardt and her husband Mark of Shaftsbury, VT. Five grandchildren, Dr.Lynne Slivovsky of Los Osos, California, Mark Slivovsky of West Caldwell, NJ, Karen Schmitz of Lancaster, PA, John Bollhardt of Manchester, NH and Eric Bollhardt of South Burlington, VT. Three great grandchildren, Claudia and Leah Schmitz of Lancaster, PA and Dylan Slivovsky of West Caldwell, NJ along with many nieces & nephews.
The funeral mass will be held at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Torrington on Saturday April 9, 2016 at noon. The burial will follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery in Torrington. Services are private.
In lieu of a donation the family would like the relatives and friends to offer a random act of kindness to those in need in honor of Mary's generosity and care for others.
The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Rose Lane for the care and love that Mary received for the past 8 years as they became part of her family.
