Mary Margaret (Zullo) Moriarty, 87 from Bennington Vermont, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family October 17, 2023. She was born June 13, 1936, in Manchester, Vermont to Mary Ida "Ida Mae” (Schiemenz) and Paschal John Zullo. She attended grammar school in Manchester before her family moved to Bennington. In Bennington, she attended St. Francis DeSales school and Bennington High School, graduating in 1954. She married David Louis Moriarty August 7, 1954. Following their marriage, they moved to California where David served at Camp Irwin until David was deployed to Korea. Following his deployment, Mary moved back to Bennington. Mary and David operated the North Village Mobile station in North Bennington from 1963-1968. Following the sale of that business, they owned and operated Moriarty and Sons, a concrete placement company. In 1979, they bought property in Wildwood, Florida and spent the fall and winter months there, returning to Vermont in the springtime. They became permanent residents of Florida following their retirement in 1993. David passed away in 2009 and Mary returned to Bennington where she resided on Garbrooke Drive for the remainder of her life. Mary served on the Shaftsbury school board and on the board of the Bennington Boy’s program. Her home and family were her focus. She enjoyed reading and knitting for charities. Cooking was her passion. Mary is survived by her 4 children, David Michael (Helene) Moriarty of Albany, New York; Thomas William (Amy) Moriarty of Bennington, Vermont; John Patrick (Karen) Moriarty Springfield, Vermont, and Susan Moriarty (Jerry) Griffin of Columbia, South Carolina. Her grandchildren, Tyler J. (Sara) Morse and Travis Morse of Arvada, Colorado; Justin Daniel Moriarty of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Kelby Moriarty (Matt) Partacz of Toms River, New Jersey; Keenen Jon and Delaney Marie Moriarty of Springfield, Vermont; Marykate Griffin (Jordan) Yawn of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Mitchell Moriarty Griffin of Ridgeland, South Carolina. Mary was blessed with 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her husband, David and her granddaughter Elizibeth Ann Moriarty. Prior to her death, Mary was lovingly cared for by Patty Morse and her niece, Janet O'Bryan. She loved them both. Services will be private and held June 15, 2024. She will be laid to rest with David at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga, N.Y.
