Mary R. Macauley, 92, widow of Albert Macauley, died Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Bennington Health & Rehabilitation following a long illness.
Born in Bennington May 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Clark S. and Lillian (Shortt) Rice.
Mary received her education in the Bennington schools and was a 1944 graduate of Bennington High School.
Mary and Albert were married on July 5, 1963 in Eagle Mills, NY. Albert died August 17, 2014.
Over the years she was employed in the Personnel department at Ben-Mont Papers, secretary at H. Greenberg & Son and later in treasurer of the P.M.H. Credit Union from which she retired in 1991.
Upon retirement, Albert and Mary moved to the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida, where they resided for the next 15 years. They returned to Bennington in 2006.
In earlier years, Mary was active in bowling leagues, the American Legion Auxiliary and was past president of the former Bennington Emblem Club #368.
Mary is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Committal services for Mary Macauley will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, NY.
