Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brady Lucas, 87 a resident of Bradley Drive in Bennington, died at home on Saturday, April 9, 2016 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, June 30, 1928. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Kenny) McLee.
She received her early education at St. Peter's School and Mount St. Joseph's in Rutland, VT. She was a graduate of Queens Vocational School in Long Island City, NY.
She was first married to Martin F. Brady who predeceased her on April 3, 1991. She married Peter O. Lucas on December 24, 1996. Mr. Lucas died February 29, 2008.
In earlier years, she was employed in New York City at the B. Altman Department Store. She was later employed as a nurses aide at Crescent Manor Care Center in Bennington and for twenty three years as a cashier at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She was member of the North Bennington Congregational Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, reading and music. Survivors include seven children: MaryEllen Longton of Millsboro, DE. Margaret Brady, Rosemary Brady, David J, Brady, and Peter J. Brady, Sr . all of Bennington,
Kathleen Connors of Virginia Beach, VA, and James R. Brady of Brooklyn, NY, She leaves fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Mary is predeceased by three sons; Martin F. Brady, Jr. Patrick M. Brady and Michael P. Brady, four brothers; Timothy, Joseph, William, Jr. and John McLee, one sister Sister Mary Fidelis McLee, and two granddaughters; Kristin Berard and Ashley Brady.
A prayer service will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington on Wednesday, April 13, at 12:30 PM followed by a Mass of Christian and Death and Burial at 1:00 at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.
Interment will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
