Mary “Mollie” Falk of Manchester and Arlington, Vermont, passed away peacefully at home in Manchester, VT, on February 19, 2023, with her children at her side. Mollie was born in 1929 in Mt. Kisco, NY, and grew up in Pleasantville, NY, the daughter of Dorothy Canfield and Charles Canfield, and sister to Nancy and brother Jim. She graduated from Dana Hall in Wellesley, MA, and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY with a degree in Business. After graduation, she married “Dick” Falk, whom she was married to for 55 years. She is survived by her children Karen, Susan, and Richard: daughter-in-law Mimi Falk; grandchildren Sarah and husband Brad, Kathryn and husband Shawn, Benjamin, Jameson, Clive, Lars, and Mally; and great-grandchildren Emily and Charlotte. Mollie and her husband retired to Arlington, Vermont, where her family resided for generations. Upon her husband’s passing in 2007, Mollie spent the remainder of her life in Manchester, Vermont. Mollie had many hobbies, including golf, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, and the Hildene Estate in Manchester. She was a member of the Arlington Garden Club and designed many award-winning flower arrangements. Her great passion, however, was playing bridge, a game she saw as strategic and worthy of study, and which more often than not, brought the winnings home. Mollie and Dick traveled abroad and throughout the United States and made valued lifetime friends in Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Florida and Vermont. Mollie will be remembered for her kind heart, sharp sense of humor, and perpetually good nature. A private service for family will be held on June 3, followed by a reception at Equinox Hotel in Manchester, VT at 12:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Mollie’s beloved Hildene Estate in Manchester, Vermont. For more information, you can reach out to Hildene at 407-375-8615 or Hildene.org.
