Mary Catherine Creel, (Catherine) 59, of Pownal, passed suddenly and peacefully on Friday, March 4th, 2016 in Albany, New York.
Catherine was born on March 22nd, 1956 in Waterbury Connecticut. At an early age Catherine could be found hitting softballs over neighbors housetops, sitting in a tree with a book and snack, playing her guitar, or practicing and refining her beautiful soprano voice.
With a determined and persistent will, Catherine had a fighting spirit; that at times was either to the chagrin or delight of those who knew her, depending upon the topic and situation.
Her need to advise and be helpful to others was fulfilled through her vast expansive knowledge of homeopathy, essential oils and flower essences. She was an avid reader with an intellect and wit that was unmatched.
Music and theater were the foundation of her passions, as was her love for animals.
Catherine attended Mount Anthony Union High School and was self -employed for many years as a vocalist, musician and business owner. While she left the Vermont area at a young age, most of her life was spent living in the New England and New York areas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn J. Creel II, and Nancy Ryan Creel.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Joshua Creel, 40 of Boulder Colorado, her feline companions, Rocky and Linus, siblings Tom Creel (Cindy Servideo), of Pennsylvania, Terri Lee Kennedy (Dale Kennedy) of Bennington, Beth Ann Brant (Wayne Brant), Troy, NY, Glenn J. Creel III (Steve Rogerson), Portland, ME, and Julie MacDonald, Pittsfield, MA.
She also leaves behind host of nieces and nephews that she adored, and with whom, she both gave and received much joy, love and delight, as well as many kind and loving caregivers.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate and give thanks for Catherine's life and service on Saturday, March 12th at 2:00 pm at E.P. Mahar & Sons Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT.
