Mary Rose (LaBarge) Bratcher, 77, of Mason Hill Road, Pownal, VT, passed away at home on Sunday, March 7, 2021 following a long illness. Mary was cared for at home by her family and friends.
Born May 18, 1943 in Bennington, VT, and the daughter of the late Robert N. LaBarge and Philomene (Phoebe) Chenaille LaBarge. Mary was a 1961 graduate of Bennington Catholic High School. She and her husband, Paul Bratcher, would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on July 28.
Mary worked at Union-Carbide for several years and was a secretary for the Sacred Heart Church Religious Education Program. She also worked as a waitress and a cook at various restaurants.
Mary was very talented. She took great pride in decorating her home that she designed and built with her husband. She enjoyed knitting scarfs, crocheting, and all types of arts and crafts. She especially loved spending time with family and friends and attending church services. She always looked forward to hosting her annual Halloween and Christmas parties. She also enjoyed playing her favorite card games, going to casinos, and the thrill of riding the biggest and best rollercoasters in the country.
In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her siblings: Robert E. LaBarge, Charmaine DeCoigne, Irene (Giroux) Jones, and Edward LaBarge.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children: Michele Johnson (David Johnson), Darren Bratcher (Anthony Pettiti); sisters: Helen Bisson, Marcelline Piekos, Pauline Frost, and Philomene (Phoebe) Pratt; grandchildren: Dana Johnson, Drew Johnson, Gavin Bratcher, and Vanessa Bratcher; several nieces and nephews, and her best friend Carol Horan.
A Mass of Christian death will be celebrated on Thursday, March 11th at 11AM at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, VT. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal, VT in the spring. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to COVID-19.
