Mr. Martin J. Sinclair, 78, a resident of Anthony Drive in Bennington, VT died Sunday June 18, 2017 at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Bennington, VT December 10, 1938. He was the son of the late Warren F. and Julianne (Betit) Sinclair. Marty received his education in Bennington and was a 1957 graduate of Bennington High School. He later attended St. Josephs Business College in Bennington where he graduated with an associate's degree in business.
For nine years Marty served in the Vermont National Guard.
On February 10, 1962 Marty married Judith S. Stockman. Judy died September 11, 1977. He later married the former Sandra Gauthier on July 1, 1978. Marty and Sandy were soul mates who loved each other very much. They would have been married 39 years on July 1.
In earlier years Marty was employed in the accounting department at the BenMont Paper Company. He later was employed as office manager at Bennington Ford and Flynn Motors from which he retired due to illness. Most recently he prepared taxes.
He was a life member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks # 567 and was a charter member of the VFW Post 1332 Auxiliary where he served as treasurer. Marty enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking care of his lawn and garden and playing golf. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Sinclair of Bennington; two daughters, Cathleen D. Scribner (Dan) of Bennington and Amanda B. Sinclair (Janet) of Portland, Maine. A step daughter, Donna Lynn Campbell (Travis) of Winston Salem, NC and a step son William A. Morrissey (Maggie) of Winston Salem, North Carolina. Six grandchildren, Abby Scribner, Carli Scribner, Rylee Sinclair, Ashley Canfillo, Brandi Campbell and Kyle Campbell. A great granddaughter Kayden Rose Campbell and a great grandson, Liam D. Harris. One brother, Thomas W. Sinclair of Pownal, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister Elizabeth "Betty Jean" Sinclair.
The funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church on Thursday June 22 at 11 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
The burial will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
