Just knowing Martin (Marty) Arons changed your world. One of a kind? Non-conformist? Eccentric? A do-gooder? All understatements. Marty marched to a different drummer on the road less taken—and we loved him for it. So much about this magical man captivated us. His gentle ways and curious nature. His radical kindness and love for all creatures. The way his eyes would light up when he saw a favorite car (especially 1957 T-Birds), or any kind of dog (especially Dobermans), or vintage cameras, or people he knew and loved. Some of us were lucky to have known him when we were children—but everyone he met stayed a friend for life. Marty advocated for animal rights and supported humanitarian causes. He’d help anyone at any time—friend or stranger. But Marty always shrugged it off as no big deal. Just like the Lone Ranger, Marty tended to vanish when you tried to thank him. For those who knew and loved Marty Arons, it’s hard to imagine a world without him, but Marty left this planet on June 25, 2023, just a few weeks after his 91st birthday. He departed from his favorite place on Earth — Arlington, VT, after a brief stay in the hospital. We hope his next destination has plenty of T-Birds, blueberry pies, cameras, and Dobermans.
