Martha A. Ludwig (Kittel)

Martha A. (Kittel) Ludwig, 98, a resident of Shaftsbury, VT, died Sunday January 9, 2022 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born in Germany April 30, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna (Ermel) Kittel. Martha received her education in Germany.

She Martha married Fritz Paul Ludwig, with whom she owned and operated the family farm and orchard in Shaftsbury.

Martha always enjoyed spending time in her amazing flower, fruit and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed reading, baking and making quilts and afghans. Her family and grandchildren were her main interest.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Fritz and Dawn Ludwig of Shaftsbury, VT. Five grandchildren, Courtney and Christopher Ludwig and Martha, Jessica and Jennifer Ludwig. A daughter in law, Priscilla Ayers Ludwig. A sister, Geta Seidel of Germany and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her husband Fritz Paul Ludwig, her son Wolfgang Herbert Ludwig, a grandson, Wolfgang Herbert Ludwig Jr., two sisters, Anna and Frieda and two brothers, Irving and Rudy.

Services for Martha will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

The burial will take place in the family lot at Center Shaftsbury Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
