Marie A. Maynard, age 71, a resident of Bennington, died on Friday, May 24, 2019 following a long illness.
She was born in Bennington and was the daughter of the late Donald and Anna Bell (Sweet) Mears. She received her education in local schools.
Marie has worked at different odd jobs over the years, but for the last several she has been a home maker.
She enjoyed camping, flea markets, painting country music, collecting Indian statues, wind chimes and dancing. Marie used to follow Al Reid and Chris Harrington's bands.
Marie is survived by five of her children: Ronald (Cheryl) Maynard of Bennington, Donald (Sharon) Maynard of Bennington, Theresa Maynard of Clifton Park, NY, Henry Maynard of Bennington, and Krystal (Colin) Amadon of Kennebunk, ME. Marie leaves her grandchildren: Christina Maynard, Tia Holland, Kayla Rousseau, Donald Maynard, Jr. Kaylee Maynard, Aleczander Maynard, Brady Amadon and Parker Amadon, as well as two great grandchildren: Aubrey Rousseau, and Maesyn Maynard. Her life companion Robert Moffit also survives in Bennington.
Marie has two brothers: Roger Mears and James Mears, and one sister Helen Hilchey.
Marie is predeceased by one son John Maynard, two brothers; Donald Mears and Steve Mears, as well as her parents.
A prayer service will be held on Friday morning, May 31, at 9:30 AM at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington followed by a Mass of Christian Death and Burial at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington at 10:00AM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.
