Marie L. Longtin

Marie (Wooddell) Longtin of Bennington passed away at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center on May 17, 2024, following an extended illness at age 91. Marie was born in Cambridge, NY on January 26, 1933; the daughter of Adelbert & Mabel (Smith) Wooddell. She received her education in Bennington and graduated in 1951 from Benn High. She was employed for many years at Bennington Garage and later Southern Vermont College, where she retired. In her retirement, she enjoyed endless hours of fishing at the family camp on Sunset Lake in Benson, VT. Besides her love of camp and fishing, she enjoyed motorcycling with her long-time companion Merritt (Smitty) Smith. Survivors include her sister Joan Niles of Hoosick Falls, NY. Sons: Keith (Tony) (Kathy McLoud) Longtin of Crown Pt, NY; Scott (Mary Estelle) Longtin of Bennington with whom she resided. Daughter, Wendy Andrews of Bennington, and son Jamie Longtin of Sun City, AZ, and her precious pup - Abby Doodles. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive as well. Marie was predeceased by her siblings Jack Fehily of Troy, MI, and Lorraine Kelly of Allyn, WA, and Norma Raetz of Pownal, VT. At Marie’s request, there will be no calling hours. Marie’s burial will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, VT. “She Lived on the Edge of Perhaps.”
