Marianne Caparco

Marianne Caparco passed away at home peacefully on November 18, 2024.

Marianne was born on February 21, 1929 in Schweinfurt, Germany to her parents, Heinrich Pult and Frieda Kegel. She went to public school in Germany and started to work in a factory at an early age. She met and married Laurence Gingras, a United States soldier, in 1952 and came to the United States as the first documented "war" bride in Vermont. She lived in Washington, Vermont with her new in-laws and traveled a great deal with her husband on his deployments. When in the States, she worked at many different jobs, particularly driving cars around the United States for a rental car company. She learned to speak English and became a citizen in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1956.

While her first husband was in the service, she became active in the shooting club and achieved the rank of Sharpshooter and Marksman, which she was very proud of. She also became an avid bowler while in Vermont and competed in many tournaments throughout the country.

She was divorced from Gingras, and married Gerald Caparco on July 5, 1978. Together, they lived throughout Vermont, Germany, and Florida until his death on December 22, 2009. Marianne moved back to Vermont in 2013, where she resided until her death.

She is predeceased by her first husband - Laurence Gingras, her second husband - Gerald Caparco, her parents, her siblings: Edgar, Rosalinda, and Erich. She is survived by her sister, Rita, and sister-in-law, Hildagunda, both in Germany. Her stepchildren: Mary Frost of Shaftsbury, Tony (Joyce) Caparco of South Dayton, NY, and Catherine Idema of Chicopee, MA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
