Margaret Geneva Martin (Maggie), a resident of 737 Willow Road in Bennington, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Vermont Veterans Home following a long illness.
She was born in Bennington, VT on March 19, 1929. She was the daughter of the late William and Donalda (Bergeron) Boutin. Margaret received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School.
She married Richard S. Martin, Jr. They were married 43 years. Mr. Martin died May 18, 2003.
In earlier years, Margaret was employed at the BenMont Paper Company and Thomson Manufacturing.
She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church.
Survivors include one son, Steven Martin of Bennington. A daughter, Carol Hardaway of Bennington and a sister, Rita Allard of Bennington. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins, including niece, Deborah Comer (Floyd) of Carleton, Mich.; a great niece Christiann Comer of Carleton, Mich.; and a great nephew Timothy Comar of Canton, Mich.; one great-great niece, Kaitlyn Comer; and five great-great nephews, Brayden, Zachary, Caleb and Joshua Comer all of Canton, Mich.; and Nicholas Bokuniewicz of Carleton, Mich.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Wiggins and Lorinna Abrams.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday August 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday August 31, at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
The burial will take place in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery.
