Mable Francis Goodwin Whitman 93, a resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully at her home on July 21st, 2024 following a brief illness. Born on March 12th, 1931, in Bennington. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Nancy Etta (Davis) Goodwin. Mable received her early education in Bennington and later graduated from Bennington High School. Mable worked for 40 years at Union Carbide/Energizer Battery in Bennington. She retired in 1989. In 1953, she married Charles Whitman at Sacred Heart Church In Bennington. Charles passed away on July 18th, 2023. Over the years, they enjoyed many visits to Lake Panasoffkee in Florida. In her spare time, Mable enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her dogs Winston and Sambo. She also enjoyed gardening, plastic cross stitching, and puzzles. She is survived by her granddaughter Jennifer Johnson (Gary). Her great grandchildren; Derek Hurley Jr., Michael Hurley, and Jack Hurley. Mable is survived by Dawn Tripp who was like a daughter to her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, special friends, and neighbors. Mable is predeceased by her daughter Linda Sue Denue. As well as her siblings; Donald Goodwin and Etta Goodwin. Following in Mable’s wishes there will be no formal funeral services.
