Lyle Arthur Mears, 49, of Petersburgh, NY, passed suddenly but peacefully on December 4, 2020.
Lyle was born in North Adams, MA, on January 23, 1971, to Larry and Loretta (Maynard) Mears. He attended public schools in Massachusetts before moving to Bennington and graduating from Mount Anthony Union High School in 1989.
Lyle worked in food service at several local nursing homes, including most recently as Director of Dining Services for the Eddy Village Green and the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center in Cohoes, NY, where he had worked for the past 17 years. He was dedicated and passionate about his work and took great pride in organizing beautiful dinners for his elders and residents, and was loved and deeply respected by his coworkers and peers.
Lyle was a private, quiet man who loved his family above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Linda (Prue) Mears, and their two cherished sons, Matthew and Ryan Mears. He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Loretta (Maynard) Mears of Bennington; his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Della (Prue) Mears of Bennington; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law Lester ("Skip") and Susan Prue of Bennington; sister-in-law Kathleen Prue of Bennington; brother-in-law Kim Randall of Hoosick Falls, NY; nieces and nephews Alicia Youngmann, Cindy Randall, Kimberly Coonradt, Autumn Hyatt, Austin Mears, Bradley Mears, Charles Mears, and Jennifer Coonradt; and aunt and cousin Shirley and Renee Mears.
He is predeceased by his wonderful, loving father, Larry Mears; his sister and best friend Cindy (Mears) Randall; mother-in-law Ella (Capin) Prue; and his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Lyle loved watching professional sports with his family and was thrilled to see his LA Lakers win one more championship this past October. He also loved the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He was a proud gun owner and enjoyed hunting and target shooting, and always found peace and comfort on the beaches of Maine each summer. He was an incredibly talented cook; loved listening to his favorite band, KISS, and other classic 70s and 80s music; loved his pets; and enjoyed watching superhero, sci-fi, and fantasy shows and movies with his sons.
