NORTH BENNINGTON
Lucille M. Austin, 95, widow of Charles E. "Tubby" Austin, a resident of Houghton Street, North Bennington, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Vermont Veterans Home.
Born in St. Johnsbury, VT on April 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Edward and Anna (Daniels) Tobin. Lucille received her education in North Bennington and was a 1942 graduate of North Bennington High School.
Lucille and Tubby were married in North Bennington on March 24, 1943. Mr. Austin died in 1972.
Lucille was a lifelong parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was also a member of St. John's Sodality.
She enjoyed knitting and her home and family were her main interests.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Edward Ransom of Shaftsbury; a son, Edward A. Austin of North Bennington; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and a nephew, James Austin of Wallingford, VT.
The funeral will be held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Church Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Johns Cemetery.
