Lois V. Miller, 94, a resident of Jewett Drive in Bennington, Vermont died Tuesday April 26, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Plainfield, New Jersey January 8, 1922. She
was the daughter of the late Bernard and Ethel Camille (Arthur) Oates. Lois received her education in North Plainfield and was a graduate of North Plainfield High School.
She married Charles L. Hill Jr at the Crescent Ave.Presbyterian Church in Plainfield New Jersey on June 8, 1942. Mr.Hill died in 1975. On December 8, 1984 Lois
married Walter P. Miller. They both moved from New Jersey to Bennington in 1995, and enjoyed their new home and scenery of Vermont. Mr. Miller died June 7, 1996.
Lois was a homemaker, focusing on her husband and 6 children. While living in Plainfield she was a very active member of the Crescent Ave. Presbyterian Church
and a member of the Monday Afternoon Club which raised funds to help the community. She was also active with the Cosmopolitan Club as well.
After the death of Mr. Hill, Lois worked at Park Florist in Plainfield. She also cared for her mother until her mother's death at the age of almost 101.
Survivors include her children, Nancy Smith and her husband Robert of Bennington, Joan Parkhurst and her husband Larry of Charlestown, New Hampshire, Sally Hill-Moyer of Bennington, Gary Hill and his wife, Patricia, of Bethlehem Township, PA
and Charles Hill and his wife, Marian, of East Warren, Maine, a daughter in law, Barbara Hill of Morristown, N.J., twelve grandchildren including Jeremy Hill and his wife Daria and their three children, and thirteen great grandchildren; a niece Marlene Sullivan and her husband Mark of Spring Lake, New Jersey and a cousin Jean Hotchkiss of Whitingham, VT. She was pre-deceased by a son Richard Hill and a brother, Clifford Oates.
A graveside committal service will be held on Thursday April 28 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Plainfield with Rev. Linda Owens of the Brook Bound Presbyterian Church officiating.
