LeRoy "Roy" Pleasant, 59, a resident of Bennington, Vermont died Sunday, March 27, 2016, at the Crescent Manor Care Center in Bennington, following a long illness.
Roy was born in Waterbury, CT on December 11, 1956. He was the son of the late Edward A. and Judith (Miller) Pleasant. Roy graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in 1974. He then went on to become a licensed electrician.
In earlier years he was employed at Johnson Controls and Greene's Oil in Bennington and for U.S. Airways in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He was most proud of his daughter, Elise, and his two grandchildren, Christopher and Kaitlyn, and especially enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed his Harley and watching NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart. He was very fond of his dog Skye, and his cousin's dog Abby. He greatly enjoyed landscaping and planting beautiful flower gardens around his apartment. He was also known for hosting a yearly BBQ at his apartment building, featuring his famous pork ribs.
He is survived by his daughter Elise (Pleasant) Hamilton, his grandchildren, Christopher and Kaitlyn Hamilton; one sister, Deborah (Tony) Stratton of Bennington, VT; and five brothers, David (Diane) Pleasant of Thomaston, CT, Garry (Gail) Pleasant of Mooseup, CT., Keith (Torrey) Pleasant of Clarksburg, MA., Ronald (Suzanne) Pleasant of Watertown, CT and Dennis (Cindy) Pleasant of Bennington, VT, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate Roy's life will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
