BENNINGTON- Larry C. Darling Sr., 82, a resident of Bennington, Vermont, passed away peacefully on December 11th, 2022 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, following a long illness. Born on February 12th, 1940 in Hanover, New Hampshire. He was the son of the late Nettie (Welch) and Charles B. Darling II. Larry was raised in Groton, VT and later Graduated Springfield High School in Springfield, VT. In 1961, Larry married his first wife Ann. Together they had two children, and they later separated. In 1976, He married his 2nd wife Carolle. Together they had three children and they later separated but remained very close friends. While still in school he began working for the First National Stores, and over a twenty year career, worked his way up to produce manager. After finishing his time as produce manager, he worked with Dennis Woodward building houses in and around Bennington for about four years. Larry later worked for Johnson Controls until their closing in 1993. He then worked for Vermont Composites for a few years until his retirement. Larry enjoyed woodworking, oil painting, watching the New England Patriots, playing horseshoes, as well as, hunting and fishing. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his grand-dog Molly. Survivors include his children; Andrew Darling, Samantha Smith, Larry Darling Jr., Dawn and Natalie Darling. His grandchildren; Annessa, Lauren, Riley, and Franchesca. His Great Grandson; Julien. His sister; Jeanne Raymond. As well as, as his former spouses; Carolle Darling and Ann LaFlamme. Larry is predeceased by his brothers; Scott and Charles. Friends and Family are invited to visitation from 5pm till 6pm on January 6th, 2023 at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington. At 6pm there will be a Memorial Service in honor of Larry. If friends should desire, contributions in memory of Larry may be made to his daughter Natalie Darling. Natalie was Larry’s sole caregiver and due to his condition, she could not leave him in order to work. Any contributions made will assist her during this difficult and transitory time.
